I am so thrilled to be sharing with you the second part of my Arbonne First Impression series; body, hair and makeup. Arbonne reached out to me a few weeks ago and asked if I would like to try out some of their products. Of course, I said yes, and I am so glad that I did. Arbonne does skincare, beauty and nutrition products, all from botanically based ingredients. Their products are certified zero waste, carbon neutral, and are not tested on animals. If you haven’t seen my previous post, where I talk about their skincare products and give you an overview of the company, read it here. Now let’s jump in! Shea Butter Hand Cream I am so excited to talk about the Shea Butter collection. Shea butter has always been one of my favorite smells for body and bath products because of its rich smell. This collection is no exception. The products smell divine and they provide intense hydration. The first product that I tried was the hand cream. I hate having dry hands (it just about drives me crazy), so I’m constantly applying hand lotion. I fell in love with this one. Not only does it smell incredible, it also provides long-lasting hydration and it immediately penetrates the skin. When I tried it, it literally felt like my hands were drinking the product. I carry the little sample size everywhere with me and I use it multiple times a day – although, to be fair, I probably don’t need to; I’m just obsessed with it. It smells so good, a colleague actually thought it was my perfume! Shea Butter Body Lotion The body lotion is just as amazing as the hand cream. I used it after my shower, all over my body, and my skin felt like butter. It was soft, moisturized and overall happy. Some lotions tend to separate and turn into water when applied on damp skin, but this one kept its rich consistency. I also like that the product comes with a really sleek looking pump, so you can leave it on your bathroom counter and reach for it easily. And let’s not forget the smell, which is discrete enough for nighttime wear (to me, it kind of smells like almonds). Nobody wants to go to bed smelling like a giant candy, right? Shea Butter Body Wash The thing that impressed me most about this product was its richness. When I first used it, I couldn’t believe how thick and lavish it was. It’s definitely not one of those shower gels that seem to be 80% water. It leaves your skin feeling pampered and the incredible smell lingers in your bathroom for a bit, which is one of my favorite things about bath products. It works into a nice lather and rinses off well. This product feels so luxurious, I wouldn’t be surprised to find it at a spa. I must admit, though, that I was hoping it would have the same smell as the body lotion, and it sadly doesn’t. FC5 Nourishing Daily Shampoo and Conditioner I’m pretty picky when it comes to shampoos. I don’t know if it’s because I have so much hair, or because it tends to be dry, but I find that most shampoos don’t do much for my hair (which is why when I find one that works, I tell the whole world about it!). Unfortunately, this one was no exception. Arbonne recommends to shampoo twice and then follow up with the conditioner. I did, but really didn’t see anything out of the ordinary. To me, these felt like very basic products. On the plus side, they are made with botanical ingredients and are free of chemicals. Pure Vibrance Colorlast Hair Serum I was super enthusiastic to try this because my hair is naturally dull and I’m always on the lookout for that miracle product that will give it shine. Again, unfortunately, I didn’t see anything extraordinary about this serum. It smells nice, and is not heavy, which I immensely appreciate. However, it did feel like I needed a lot to be able to distribute it evenly throughout my hair. It didn’t add any obvious shine or moisture to my hair. I do have to say that I don’t have colored hair, which could be why this product wasn’t for me. On the other hand, I gave a little sample size to my mom, who has been coloring her hair for a very long time, and she seemed to like it. It’s a Long Story Mascara I feel like this mascara grew on me. The first time I used it, I wasn’t majorly impressed. It did the job, but without anything more. However, the more I used it, the more I liked it. Now I’m starting to seriously love it. First, I like its simplicity. The packaging is very traditional; a simple black tube, with a standard silicone brush. It doesn’t come with a crazy bottle or loud colors or some insane futuristic brush. I feel like a lot of mascaras today have a lot of hype around them, and they all claim to be the most incredible. Yet, when you try them, they do very little for your lashes. This Arbonne one is super simple, but it works amazing. That’s the second thing I like most about it: it’s effective. It lengthens your lashes and it separates them. I feel like it’s a very sophisticated mascara. It’s not clumpy or messy, and the brush makes the application super easy. I did walk in the rain with this mascara and had zero fallouts. Moreover, I didn’t have any issues removing it with a gentle makeup remover at night. Love, love, love. Makeup Primer Honestly, I don’t use makeup primer very often because I don’t wear foundation and I don’t like piling up products on my face. I do, however, wear color corrector, concealer and matte powder (to see my full makeup routine, click here). Those can be hard to blend in, especially during the winter, so I was excited to try this makeup primer. Let me tell you I was not disappointed. This primer is like magic. Honestly. It feels like the softest piece of silk you will ever touch. It makes your skin so incredibly soft, like it doesn’t have any imperfection, and it lasts all day long. It doesn’t feel sticky or hard at all. It goes on super easily and you don’t need a lot to cover your entire face. No need to blend your makeup in for hours, no weird patches or residue, and it doesn’t feel heavy, which is a big plus for me. Honestly love it. Go get one. Overall, aside from the hair products, I thoroughly liked what I tried. There are definitely a few products from Arbonne that I am seriously considering adding to my daily regimen. I also think some of them would make great Christmas presents for all beauty addicts out there, like the products from the Shea Butter collection or the Prepwork Gel Eye Masks, which I talked about in my previous Arbonne post. Since their products are vegan and dermatologically tested, I think they could be a great fit for a lot of people. They all have very classic packaging and a nice smell; something everyone can enjoy! Don’t miss the very last post in this series, which will be up in January, where I’ll try some of their nutrition products! As usual, huge thank you to Arbonne for letting me dig into their products. Until next time, Much love,
-TM-
