It’s no secret that millennials love to carry some kind drink around. A cup of coffee, a can of kombucha or a bottle of water, it doesn’t matter, as long as we can drink it. As silly as it sounds, it is the reality of our generation. Dehydration is a big no-no. For that reason, ready-to-drink beverages seem to be everywhere. Fancy some iced tea? You now have 300 brands and flavors to choose from, all easily accessible and ready to be carried around in your bag. It’s enough to give you a headache. I’ve been testing out a lot of different beverages in the past few weeks, and I narrowed it down to four. Four non-alcoholic drinks that I like to keep in my fridge at all times (not necessarily all four of them at the same time, but at least one). Here are my top picks for refreshing, delicious drinks that you can take with you throughout your day. Nai was my drink discovery of 2020. It all started innocently, in the ready-to-drink aisle of the grocery store. My fiancé and I were on a walk, and we decided to stop to get something to drink. I immediately spotted the colourful Nai bottles in the fridge and was intrigued, because I had never seen them before. When I realized it was real tea infused with fruits, I could barely wait to be out of the store to taste it. Nai teas can be found in four delicious flavors and are 100% natural, made with real tea, with no added sugar. We tasted two flavors that day and Nai was generous enough to offer me a box of their products so that we could taste the rest of the flavors. I can guarantee that they’re all equally as delicious (my favorite is Jasmine White Tea with peach, mango and pear juice). The taste is sweet, and it doesn’t have that acidity that can usually be found in tea products. And the best part: you can enjoy it cold or simply warm it up in a saucepan to create a steaming cup of tea, perfect for winter. A real thirst quencher, honestly. It’s also the perfect kind of drink to use as a base for cocktails (see how I use it in my article about Kombucha Cocktails). These bright glass bottles have been sprucing up my fridge all winter. Pure Leaf is a no brainer for me. It’s my comfort zone in terms of thirst quenchers. It can be found literally anywhere; at festivals, at the drive-in movies, in grocery stores, at restaurants… It’s what my fiancé and I would always drink back when we first met, so it has a special place in my heart. Even though it’s a little high in sugar, it has no artificial flavors, and it is made from real tea leaves. What I like most is that it comes in thirteen amazing flavors, from Unsweetened Black Tea to Honey Green Tea (my personal favorite) to Raspberry or Mint Tea. In my opinion, it is easily dethroning all the other, older and more artificial brands of iced tea out there. The only thing that I like to drink as much as tea is kombucha. I have been on a quest to find the best kombucha on the market, and so far, Gutsy is one of my top picks. This fun and bright company from Montreal (whoop whoop, Montreal!) makes organic, raw, unfiltered and unpasteurized kombucha. They have 7 flavors (my favorites are Raspberry-Mint & Astragalus and Hibiscus & Fennel) and they come in the most beautiful packaging. Not to sound like an infomercial, but I have heard non-kombucha lovers rave about Gutsy products. The taste is very light, not too sweet, and not too bubbly (don’t you just hate when your drink is so fizzy you can barely drink it?!). Bonus points for the person in charge of their Instagram, because they come up with the funniest captions for their pictures. This is a new discovery for me (and another brand from beautiful Montreal!). I don’t like coffee or energy drinks, so it’s sometimes hard to find something that will help me stay awake when I need to. This drink has been the answer. Infused with Yerba Maté leaves, each can is the equivalent of an espresso, except that it’s delicious, refreshing and full of antioxidants. I’ve tried other brands of Yerba Maté drinks, but most make me jittery, while Mate Libre doesn’t. It has quickly become my working buddy, especially for those long late night shifts. Out of the four flavors, Passion is my favorite; it tastes like you’re biting into a real juicy tropical fruit… with energy. We now have a whole section of our fridge dedicated to drinks, and these are the ones that we most often have on hand. I work from home, so I love being able to grab a drink during my shift or just having something fresh to quench my thirst. On a more serious note, hydration is really important. I talk about fun and slightly sugary drinks in this article, but don’t forget to also keep water on hand and make sure you give your body enough fluids. Dehydration headaches are no fun. Drink up! Much love,
