12/9/2018 0 Comments Holidays HairstylesWe all want to look cute for the holidays. As soon as Halloween is over, we start thinking about outfits for Christmas and New Year’s Eve. Personally, I tend to buy a new dress every year for Christmas. I then spend the rest of the month thinking about which shoes would go well with it and what makeup look I’m gonna rock. One thing I tend to forget, though, is hair. How am I gonna style my hair? Curly or straight? A fancy updo or an effortless style? Most of the time, I end up wearing my hair in exactly the same way I’ve been wearing it for the past three years. But not this year. Today, I thought I would share a few of my favorite hairstyles. They’re not hairstyles that I do everyday, but ones that I have tried in the past and have loved. All of these would look great with any texture of hair, from straight to curly. Low Side Bun A side bun is one of my favorite hairstyles. It just looks so elegant! This hairstyle is great for family pictures, and is easy to accessorize with pretty clips or headbands. 1) Part hair on one side (the side on which you want your bun to be) and gather hair in a low ponytail, right behind your ear. Leave bangs out. 2) Loop hair halfway through a small elastic, twice. This will create a super messy bun. Make sure to use an elastic that is tight; the tighter the elastic, the more secure your bun will be. 3) Twist loose ends around the base of the bun and tuck under the elastic. 4) Pin the bun is place, making sure any loose strand is secured. 5) Curl bangs with a straightening iron, just enough to give it a nice wave. 6) Add a little hairspray. 7) Get the gift exchange started! Pin Up Swoop This look is effortlessly chic. It’d look amazing with dark lips and a dress. Festive without trying too hard. 1) Make a side part and swoop hair over to one side. 2) On the side with less hair, section off a piece of hair about 1-inch thick. 3) Braid about halfway down, making sure to pull the strand toward the back, so that it can lay flat on your head. 4) Once braid is done, pinch the two side strands together and hold the middle strand with your other hand. 5) Push the two side strands up the middle strand, bunching up the braid. 6) Pull down on the braid, very gently, to even it out. The two side strands should create an “S” around the middle strand. 7) Lift the top section of hair at the back of the head and pin the braid underneath by crisscrossing two bobby pins. 8) Curl bangs with flat iron to give it a nice wave. 9) Feel free to curl the rest of the hair to add more volume to the hairstyle. 10) Pour yourself some eggnog! Braided Half-topknot I love this hairstyle because it keeps the hair out of your face and is very secure. It is perfect to spend Christmas day playing with the kids! 1) Section off the crown, from eyebrow to eyebrow. 2) Create a ponytail and secure with a mini elastic. 3) Braid the ponytail all the way down to the very end. 4) Twist the braid around the elastic to create a bun. 5) Secure by crisscrossing two bobby pins. 6) Loosen up the bun a little by gently pulling on random strands. 7) Curl the rest of hair or leave it straight. 8) Add the last ornament to the Christmas tree! Braided Crown This look is super easy to dress up or down, simply by changing the texture of your hair. I personally think it looks great with wavy hair – it gives the whole look a nice boho vibe – but you can also make it more chic by creating curls, or take it down a notch and do it on straight hair. Whichever you choose, this look will take no time at all to achieve. 1) Section off the two front strands on each side of your head, being careful to leave some tiny pieces out to frame your face. 2) Braid each strand all the way down and secure temporarily with a bobby pin. 3) Join the two braids at the back of the head and pin in place. 4) Tuck the ends under the other braid. 5) Add decorative clip right where the two braids meet. 6) Find someone to kiss under the mistletoe! All of these hairstyles are sure to get you into the holiday spirit (and get you loads of compliments!). If you end up rocking one of these for your holiday party, make sure to use the hashtag #teaandmascara so that I can see all of your beautiful recreations! Happy Holidays! Much love,
