Juicy Mango Smoothie

Picture
Mangos are a massive crowd pleaser. I feel like so many people adore mangos, especially during the summer. Here in Quebec, I think we can attribute their popularity to the tropical vibe they bring (and which we are often desperate for). However, funny enough, I haven’t always been the biggest fan. I used to dislike the strong taste of this summer fruit; to me it tasted like pepper (yes, I have been told it is quite an odd statement).
Anyway, a few years back, my dad went on a string of business trips to India. When he got back home, he started to buy mangos (although I’m sure they aren’t as delicious here as they were there), and that’s when I started to actually enjoy them. When perfectly ripe, it is amazingly juicy, and smells divine. Even though it took me a while to appreciate the taste, I’ve always loved the smell (as proven by my Body Shop Haul, which features the most amazing mango sugar scrub!). Moreover, mangos are packed with vitamin C and fiber. Besides, with such a rich color, how could they be anything less than scrumptious?
Now, I don’t know if there is an easy way to eat a mango, but I sure haven’t figured it out yet. When I’m done eating one, I usually need a shower. To avoid the sticky mess, I like to use mangos in smoothies. This particular one offers a complex flavor that will take you straight to a tropical beach. Cheers!

For one small smoothie:

  • a couple ice cubes
  • 1 ripe mango, peeled
  • 1 orange
  • 1 tsp of chia seeds
  • 1 tsp of honey
  • 2 tsp of unsweetened coconut
  • water

1. Place all ingredients into a blender, starting with the ice.
2. Add a bit of water. This smoothie has a very rich consistency, and adding too much water would compromise that. I like to add about half a cup.
3. Blend until smooth.
4. Pour into a glass, pop a straw in and enjoy!
Extra tip:
  • To get the full effect, make sure your mango is ripe. Mangos are ready to be enjoyed when soft to the touch, and when they have a strong sweet smell.
This smoothie is perfect to have as a snack on warm summer days.

Much love,
-TM-
