1/6/2019 0 Comments OatboxOatmeal is such a winter staple. There’s nothing more comforting than a warm bowl of oatmeal, topped with fruits and maple syrup. If you follow me on Instagram, you already know that I am a huge fan of anything that involves oat. I even use it to wash my face during the dry and cold winter months (read all about that in my Secret Weapons for Radiant Skin post). Considering this fact, it’s no surprise that I was sold the minute I heard about Oatbox. Oatbox is a Montreal-based subscription service that sends you a box full of oat goodies each month. They aim to deliver delicious breakfast options made with healthy and natural ingredients. Each one of your box contains flavor of the month granola and is completely customizable. You can add products if you want, or even skip a month (although, why would you want to do that??). When completing your subscription, you get to choose between three plans; the Starter Kit, the On the Go Kit or the Wolfpack Kit. Each plan corresponds to a specific size box, from strictly the new flavor of the month to the whole breakfast artillery. They also have a special gluten-free, nut-free and kosher granola box. In addition, they offer gift boxes that, in my opinion, are a terrific gift for any oat lover. That is actually how I learned about Oatbox; my boyfriend surprised me with a box on Valentine’s Day of last year. Some people did think it was kind of weird, but I was thrilled. We’ve been indulging in their products ever since. Speaking of, Oat Box also has a wide range of products that you can add to your monthly parcel, including tea, coffee, overnight oats, marmalade, jam, and even a spiced Dulce de Leche (which is amaaaaazing). Oatbox jar When first subscribing, you receive an Oatbox jar with your very first box. Not only is it super cute, it is also super convenient. Decently sized and equipped with a handy dandy clip, it is perfect to take your breakfast on the go. I like to use it to make overnight oat; in the morning, I simply have to take it out of the fridge and throw it in my bag. Voila. Breakfast Cereal Bars These vegan cereal bars are one of my favorite snacks. I find that cereal bars are often too crumbly or too hard. These are just perfect. Just by looking at them, you can tell that they contain a lot of healthy ingredients that will satisfy your hunger. Not only that, they also come in scrumptious flavors, like Chocolate & Banana, Date & Pear and, my favorite, Strawberry & Cranberry. I love to carry these around for days when I don’t know when or if I’ll be able to sit down to eat. Oatmeal Taster Pack We decided to order the Oatmeal Taster Pack because we love having oatmeal on any occasion; breakfast, lunch, late-night snack… It’s never too late or too early for some oatmeal. Unfortunately, I have kind of mixed feelings about these… The flavors are very enticing, but the taste of some of them seems slightly unbalanced. For example, the Apple & Cinnamon flavor is such a classic and you would expect it to taste like apple picking, right? Sadly, this one tastes just a little too earthy, in my opinion, almost like soil. In the same line of idea, I was so excited to taste the Matcha & White Chocolate flavor. I thought: “chocolate and tea, what could be better?” While the idea remains excellent, the taste of the matcha completely overpowers the taste of the white chocolate and of the oat. Needless to say, I was bummed, because I was so prepared to love these. However, I have to say that the Wild Blueberry & Coconut flavor, along with the Goji Berry & Cacao one, was absolutely delicious and I enjoyed every bite. So who knows, maybe these would be worth a second try. Granola Finally, the main attraction; the granola! That month, the two flavors were Date Square and Banana & Cardamon. We loved them both, especially Date Square. We also decided to add the Chaï & Almond flavor to our box, which is also great. This one has a very light yet warm taste and I think it is very fitting for the chillier winter months. As I was writing this post, we received our box for December and the two flavors of the month were Dark Chocolate & Cranberry and Pecan Pie. Let’s just say I don’t think they’ll last long (hint: we can’t stop eating them). I can honestly say that every flavor that I tasted so far was absolutely incredible. I find that Oatbox granola in general is always very balanced; it is sweet but not overly so. Also, it never clumps, which is something that I very much appreciate. Some granola tends to have huge clumps in it, which are usually rock-hard and threaten to break your teeth at every bite. Oatbox nails it every time and I never found a single clump-of-death in my granola. I like to use it to create fruit parfaits that I can enjoy in the morning or as a healthy dessert. I think Oatbox is a really great company that cares about the products they offer. You can tell that each box is crafted with care and it is always a nice surprise to find one at your doorstep. Lastly, it is very affordable, which is refreshing considering that most subscription boxes are super expensive. This one is beautiful, healthy, delicious and, in my humble opinion, worth every penny. Visit their website for more info. Happy breakfast! Much love,
-TM
