2/24/2019 0 Comments Tea Haul - DavidsTeaWhat could be better than a delivery of tea in the dead of winter, right when you’re craving a warm, comforting beverage? When it comes to tea, I like to shop online, because it allows me to see every single tea that is offered, and read the description of every single flavor. As you can see, I don’t take tea shopping lightly. One of my favorite places to shop is DavidsTea, because they have such a wide array of unique flavors, and their website is simply stunning. It is so easy to navigate and have a look at what is inside each tea. I also like that they offer pre-made packages – featuring tea bags or loose leaf tea – but you can also buy in bulk. Lastly, they ship pretty quickly and your tea arrives in a nice box, protected and well preserved. Today, I thought I would share what was in my last order, since it’s one I particularly enjoyed. DavidsTea often have crazy sales, mixed with online exclusivities. For example, when you buy online, you also get three samples of tea, which you can pick from a pre-selection. I have to say, I was pretty disappointed with the packaging of these samples… They came in a little pouch that you have to tear open, which means it is meant for a single use. That would be fine, except that there was way more tea in there than what you need for a single cup. Once I had transferred the content of the pouch into an empty tin, I had enough tea to make two to three cups with each samples. Don’t get me wrong, it’s awesome to have such a generous sample, but it would be nice if it came in a reusable package, so you’re not wasting so much tea. Caribbean Crush I really like that fruity and light tea. It does really make you feel like you’re on a Caribbean island, so it’s perfect to give you a little boost during the cold winter. I think fruit infusions are great because they taste like a thousand fruits all at once and don’t have that strong, bitter taste that most teas have. This one features flavors of pineapple, papaya, apple, cranberry and hibiscus. Monster Mash Can we just talk about the name of this one for a second? That name is so cute! Every time I hear it, I picture a bunch of bright-colored monsters with googley eyes. This rooibos tea is really similar to DavidsTea’s Pumpkin Chai, but less heavy and without all the caffeine… It definitely has all of the required fall spices, in addition to a rich buttery taste. Rooibos tea is my favorite, so I simply could not pass up on this. Peanut Butter Cup I am a massive fan of Reese’s. Anything that mixes peanut butter and chocolate, I’m on board. That tea is now one of my favorites; I loved it so much, I think I finished the sample in about a day and a half. It tastes exactly like a real peanut butter cup, but without all the calories and, surprisingly, all the peanuts. This herbal tea is perfect to satisfy late-night or mid-afternoon sugar cravings. Apple Custard When I opened up the bag, I was in shock; this fruit infusion is probably made at 90% of apple pieces. It looks so appetizing! It tastes like fall; almost you’re biting into a juicy apple that you just picked from the tree. The only down-side is that the tea is not very strong… I always let it steep for a little longer than recommended, just to make sure I get as much flavor as possible (and let me tell you, you really want that juicy and fruity flavor). Coffee Pu’erh This is the best version of a morning coffee, in my opinion. I don’t like the bitter taste of coffee, but some mornings I do need something to wake me up. I like this because it smells like coffee, it is effective at washing away sleepiness, and it tastes amazing. I like to add a little splash of almond milk to make it a bit sweeter, and usually one cup is enough to feel perfectly awake. I always make sure to have a bag of this tea on hand for difficult mornings or late nights. Blackberry Blizzard I adore blackberries, and this tea is no exception. It is sweet, but in a fruity way that’s not too overwhelming. The tartness of the blackberries balances out the sweetness of the papaya also contained in this tea and marries perfectly well with the pineapple and apple. On a side note, I can’t quite explain it, but this tea slightly tastes like ice cream to me… It might be because of the name and my past summers working at a Dairy Queen, but I am definitely reminded of frozen treats whenever I have this tea. I am not complaining, though. I mean, ice cream tea? Hum, yes. When I ordered online, in addition to the three samples, I also got a tea bag plate. I find that these are so handy, especially when you’re having people over and brewing multiple cups of tea. It is the perfect size to put your used tea bag or infuser while you decide whether or not you want a second cup. If you’re using loose leaf tea, it is also great to let the leaves dry inside of your infuser; it is then much easier to empty them in the garbage, and you don’t burn yourself or get concentrated tea juice everywhere. I have a couple of these, and I use one every single day when I make a cup of tea. I hope that you enjoyed this little haul and are feeling inspired to try some new tea. If you do, please let me know, I’d love to hear your thoughts and personal recommendations. Until next time, Much love,
-TM-
