1/27/2019 0 Comments Self-care Haul: The Body Shop I don’t know about you, but I love online shopping. Especially during the winter, when I don’t want to leave my house. For an introvert like me, skipping the crowd and being able to browse freely for hours is simply amazing. Another thing that I like about online shopping is the abolition of geographical barriers. Not only are there now shops that strictly exist online, but there are also certain shops that deliver worldwide, even though they only physically exist in a given country. There’s nothing sadder than your favorite store moving location, which makes you unable to shop there anymore. That’s what happened with The Body Shop for me. My local store closed down and now the closest to where I live is actually pretty far. That’s why I buy all of my favorite products from their website. Not only do they offer great delivery, but they also often have sales that are exclusively online. That way, I get fantastic products delivered safely to my door, for a very good price. I placed an order a couple weeks ago, which allowed me to stock up on all of my “Body Shop essentials”. There are a few products that I can only find at that store, and that have become part of my beauty routine. You understand that I had no choice but to order them ASAP – and while I was at it, well, why not do a little shopping and try out new products. If you missed my previous Body Shop haul, read it here. Ginger Scalp Care Shampoo I mentioned this in my previous haul and I think it is the most amazing shampoo there is. This is my second bottle and I bought the first one a little less than a year ago, which proves how a little bit of this goes a long way. To be fair, I like to alternate between this and my usual, regular shampoo. Since I started using this, I have not suffered from itchy scalp, dandruff or dry patches at all. After only the first few uses, my scalp felt happy and healthy again, and it hasn’t changed since. The ginger in this product makes it extra relaxing and therapeutic. Bonus: I was sick over the Holidays and ended up smelling this shampoo to get rid of nausea. It totally worked. I’m just saying’… Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash Full disclaimer: this product isn’t actually for me. My boyfriend was looking for a good face wash that could help with acne, and I suggested this one because I had heard rave reviews about it. It did not disappoint. After only a single use, his skin was already more radiant and the acne started clearing up in a matter of days. It smells really fresh and is slightly tingly. It rinses off super easily to reveal clean, fresh, and radiant skin. I also love the fact that it’s made with tea tree oil because, well, tea. Tea is good for everything! InstaBlur All-in-One 5-Action Perfector Mattifies, blurs pores, smoothes, evens the appearance of skin tone & extends wear of makeup. With Community Trade Marula oil. This is something that I’ve been eyeing for a while and I finally decided to get it. While it hasn’t become my favorite product by any mean, I am learning to like it more and more. It has a weird texture, which I think is what threw me off. When it comes out of the tube, it feels grainy, kind of like slush, and dry. That texture makes it hard to apply, because it’s almost like it falls apart. That being said, once it’s on your skin, it blends in really well and makes your skin feel like satin. I did notice that it helps my makeup last longer, and it truly mattifies the skin. I also like how applying this on clean skin guarantees my makeup will go on smoothly. Ethiopian Honey Deep Nourishing Mask Replenishes, restores, comforts. With honey from Ethiopia. The thing that surprised me most about this mask is that it goes on completely clear, which is a bit unusual for a face mask. You can’t scare the postman by answering the door with this one, which takes out half the fun. It basically looks and feels like super thick honey. It doesn’t really dry either, so it’s extra easy to wash off. While it’s hard to tell the benefits of a mask after just one use, this one left my skin feeling smooth and happy. During the cold winter, it’s nice to have to something like this that’ll nourish your skin and restore its natural moisture barrier. Complexion Blender I was very disappointed in this makeup sponge. I didn’t expect something as good as the original Beautyblender, but I did expect some quality. Unfortunately, this little guy is very stiff and absorbs most of your makeup, which are the two things you don’t want in a makeup sponge. I really wanted to like this, but I think I’ll continue to blend my concealer with my finger, sadly… Vitamin E Eye Cream 48h. With wheatgerm oil. I. Love. This. I’ve started using eye cream quite late, so now I really try to use good ones that’ll work. This one feels so incredibly rich, moisturizing and luxurious. A tiny little bit goes a long way (the first time I used this, I squeeze out what I thought was a normal amount and had enough to cover my entire face). Obviously, because eye cream works with time, I can’t tell if this one is truly doing its job or not, but I definitely feel like it is. I like that, with The Body Shop, I can trust that the products I’m using are made from the best ingredients and will work their magic. Wooden Facial Massager Handle made from renewable bamboo wood. I’ve wanted to try something like this for a really long time. I mean, a face massage every night? Yes! You basically roll this little tool all over your face and it feels incredibly good. I like to use it at night, after I’ve cleaned my face and applied my moisturizer. This stimulates the blood flow and will make your skin naturally radiant in no time (for more tips on how to get radiant skin, check out my Secret Weapons for a Radiant Skin post). Plus, after a long day, this tiny face massage is exactly what you need, trust me. I’ve noticed that it feels especially good along the jawline, and helps release the tension there. The only vaguely negative thing I have to say about this is that it doesn’t roll on well if you press too hard. But other than that, this purchase was definitely worth it. Honeymania Nourishing Body Butter For very dry skin. With honey harvested from the Sheka Rainforest, Ethiopia. I think The Body Shop’s body butters and the best ones out there and make every other body butter look like a pale attempt in comparison. They are so rich, incredibly moisturizing, and they come in the most enticing smells. I have tried to wean off of these and go back to regular (and boring) body butters, but it’s useless. I use them daily after my shower, and my skin feels soft and super moisturized. I also like that these come in the mini travel size (that is also great to carry in your bag), the regular size, and the mega size which guarantees you’ll have enough body butter to last through the cold season. To me, these are a must, and this specific Honeymania one is quickly becoming one of my favorites (I also really love the Pink Grapefruit one). These are all the products that I got this time, but fear not, I will most likely place another order in the near future. I seriously can’t tell you enough how much I like this company. Their products are the bests of there, in my opinion. Plus, they are all cruelty free, which gives them major points.
