A couple months ago, Arbonne reached out to me and asked if I would like to try out some of their products. If you haven’t seen my two previous posts, about their range of beauty products, find them here (skincare) and here (body/hair/makeup). Today, I’m finally sharing my thoughts on their nutrition products. Arbonne does skincare, beauty and nutrition products, all from botanically based ingredients. Their products are certified zero waste, carbon neutral, and are not tested on animals. Plus, all of their nutrition range is vegan and gluten-free. I am usually pretty skeptical about nutrition products that claim to “help” your body in various ways. I’m very cautious when it comes to “detox” products or extra vitamins or anything that seems to do too much too fast. I try to be mindful of what I put in my body. That’s why I approached Arbonne’s range of nutrition products in a guarded way. However, I was pleased to find out that these follow Arbonne’s mentality, which is to offer products of quality made with natural ingredients. PhytoSport Prepare & Endure – Orange Pineapple Supports energy production during exercise and helps enhance physical performance. Formulated for men and women 18 and older. My first thought when I tried this was “oh my gosh, this really tastes like pineapple and orange”! Drinking this feels like biting into a really juicy pineapple. I don’t typically use pre-workout, so I really didn’t know what to expect. I feel like at first, it did give me a kick and made me ready for my workout. However, I fear that drinking the rest of it during my workout sort of dragged me down. By the time I reached the stretching portion of my training, I was completely drained. I feel like for me, this is good to drink strictly before, dissolved in a very minimal amount of water. Then again, workouts are different for everybody and we all prepare differently for them. I like the fact that this product is made with botanical ingredients, so you don’t feel like you’re putting a bunch of chemicals in your body. Protein Snack Bar – Apple Cinnamon 10 grams of protein, good source of fiber and low sodium. Also comes in Dark Chocolate & Sea Salt and Cranberry & Pumpkin. When I was given this snack bar, I was told to drink a lot of water along with it. I have to admit, that kind of scared me. I was afraid to end up with a heavy lump of protein in my tummy. Protein bars can be really tricky. Some of them are hard as rock, some seriously upset the stomach, and others simply taste like concrete. When I finally tried the Arbonne one, I was deliciously surprised. It tastes like… well, apple and cinnamon! It doesn’t have that strong protein taste, and while it isn’t exactly moist, it’s not overly dry either, especially considering that it’s a protein bar. I did have it with water, but only had a couple sips while eating the snack bar. I feel like compared to most protein bars, this one is pretty good. Herbal tea Caffeine-free. Contains 6 botanicals; dandelion root, peppermint leaf, parsley leaf, elder flower, sweet fennel fruit and licorice root. This is a very basic herbal tea. For a tea lover like me, I have to admit I was a little disappointed. I wish it had more flavor, or something that made it different than most herbal tea. It tasted good, but nothing more. Considering that Arbonne is a company that is conscious about the environment, it would be nice if this tea came in loose leaf form, but at the same time, individual tea bags are great to carry with you at all times. Body Cleanse – Lemon Ginger Helps detoxify and supports the gastrointestinal tract. I’m not sure how I feel about this product. Like I said earlier, I am not a fan of “detoxifying” products and I’m not convinced of their efficiency. Arbonne’s Body Cleanse tastes okay and is slightly fizzy. Because the powder needs to be dissolved in hot water, the final product resembles hot soda, which is a weird thing to drink. I understand that warm water helps remove toxins that are stuck in your system, but I’d much rather drink tea. It has a white cast to it, and you need to stir periodically to make sure no deposits form. While drinking this feels good on your conscience, I’m not sure I would add it to my daily routine. Energy Fizz Sticks Comes in 4 flavors; Citrus, Pomegranate, Blackberry and Green Apple. I adore these. I have always struggled with the afternoon slump and I’ve been looking for something to fight it with for a long time. I don’t drink coffee or energy drinks, so I was super excited to try these. They come in individual packets that you simply pour in water and shake to create this fizzy drink. All of the flavors taste amazing and you can chose to dissolve the powder in whichever amount of water. And the best part? They really do work! For me, these totally give me the energy I sometimes miss to power through my day. However, like I mentioned, I don’t drink coffee, so I have a pretty low tolerance to caffeine. My boyfriend, who is an avid coffee drinker, doesn’t really feel the kick these provide as much as I do. But I feel like for people who don’t want to stop at a coffee shop everyday or are not always in a position to do so, these are great. You can carry them in your bag at all times and when you start to feel sleepy – Boom! You simply bust one of these out. Digestion Plus Supports digestive health. With bacillus coagulants, enzymes and botanicals. What I like is that you can dissolve this powder in any cold or room temperature liquid. When dissolved into water, it does have the same white cast as the Body Cleanse, which is not terribly appetizing. I suggest dissolving it in juice, a smoothie or even a protein shake. It doesn’t really have a taste and is suggested to be taken along with food. I tried this just after the holidays (you know, when you’ve had too much food for too many days in a row) and it did help settle my stomach, but I feel like this is something that would need to be tested on the course of multiple weeks or even months. I feel like this may be good for someone who has an easily upset stomach, but it is hard to tell from just one use. This completes my Arbonne First Impression series! I truly hope that you guys liked it. Overall, I was impressed with how much energy and passion Arbonne puts into each product. They are really concerned with the environment and promote a positive and healthy lifestyle, which gives me peace of mind. It’s nice to know the products you’re using were made with care and are not harmful for anyone (including the animals!). While not all of their products work for me, I found some really great gems, like the Shea Butter collection, the Prepwork line and the Energy Fizz Sticks. Lastly, I would like to thank Colombe Lane from Arbonne for giving me a chance to try all of these amazing products and helping me discover this great company. You can check out the Arbonne website here. Until next time. Much love,
-TM-
